Geotechnical Investigation for the proposed Karema Port on Lake Tanganyika

Project Information

The scope of works included offshore and onshore drilling of seventeen (17Nos) boreholes and twenty-eight (28Nos) boreholes respectively. The depth of investigation varied from 10 – 30m below lake bed or original ground level, Conduct of Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and collection of samples. The main structures for the project were construction of sheet piles for the quay wall and dock yard, construction of wind and wave breakers about 300m distance from the shoreline. The investigation included preparation of detailed investigation report and Geological Model of the site.
